Extreme Performance for IoT Telemetry
The Challenge: A US-based pioneer in Internet-of-Things (IoT) transport telemetry was struggling to handle the massive data load required to track hundreds of thousands of trucks across the United States. The system gathered telemetry data every minute, but the backend infrastructure was stalling under the weight of real-time analytics requests, causing significant delays in data visibility for both clients and government agencies.
O&B’s Role: O&B was initially engaged for a high-impact database optimization project. Our team conducted a deep-dive audit of their PostgreSQL environment, identifying critical bottlenecks in the way data was queried and indexed. Following this, O&B was retained to provide a long-term dedicated team to manage the backend development in Spring Boot and oversee the AWS infrastructure.
The Success Outcome: O&B’s architectural interventions improved the performance of critical queries by factors of 1,000x to 10,000x. This massive uplift in performance allowed the client to scale their fleet monitoring without fear of system failure. The engagement evolved from a one-time rescue into a comprehensive managed service partnership covering their entire build pipeline and cloud infrastructure.
